The Pink Invasion
My studio and verandah are filled with equipment for constructing ‘Pink Chatter’ frames. Indeed, frame-making has become a full-time job because I can’t get back into my studio until I have framed all 38 abstracts made so far. However, if everything goes to plan, all six Pinky Chatter works, nonetheless, will be finished and ready to hang, hopefully, next week.
Pink Chatter celebrates persistence
Perhaps the real story to be celebrated in the collection is that of persistence.
I began them way back in March 2024, and placed final strokes on the series last November 2025, before closing my studio for the summer.
Early disappointment
Undeniably, early ‘Pink Chatter’ efforts disappointed me. Indeed, the pieces looked too other-worldly. Therefore, I put them aside and thereupon focussed on other abstracts. Moreover, I could then forge ahead in developing a new overall creative language. You can watch my YouTube video to see my early efforts by clicking here. Eventually, that newly developed style found its way onto the six ‘Pink Chatter’ works.
Thus, ‘Pink Chatter’ is a genuine triumph. Nonetheless, I needed to mull over the best way to celebrate such victory?
Frame Choice for ‘Pink Chatter’
Usually I envision the framing scheme for works early on in making them. Indeed, ‘In the Pink’, which inspired me to make ‘Pink Chatter’, were begun expressly because I discovered a stash of small pink frames left over from my closed framing business.
Accordingly, I’ve aways imagined pink for framing the new works. However, white was likewise considered thanks to conversations with a couple of art associates.
Yet, pink…yes strong pink, won the day! Even Bill, my husband, who usually demurs in such matters, whole-heartedly agreed!
Naming the ‘Pink Chatter’ works
These works have conversational titles similar to earlier abstract collections. Frankly, I envision these artworks as helping you enhance the kind of conversation you want your style to have in your home or office space.
With this in mind, I consider the disruption of my home and studio in order to frame ‘Pink Chatter’ in vivid pink extremely satisfying.
‘Pink Chatter’ works will debut soon at Invernui Art Gallery in Invercargill. However, those on my email list will have the first opportunity to buy the collection. You can join the list at the form below or click here.
I can’t wait to show you the complete collection of new pink-framed works.
