Last week I shared how the joyful pinks of Pink Chatter feel perfectly at home in soft Cloud Dancer spaces. The response was lovely — thank you!
This week, the studio has been humming with activity, and I’m looking at the collection in a new setting.
Pink Chatter-Sings the Blues
Last September, Dulux announced its 2026 Colours of the Year as The Rhythm of Blues — not one shade, but a soulful trio of indigos designed to match every mood:
Mellow Flow — an airy, uplifting light denim blue (think clear skies and gentle calm)
Free Groove — a vibrant, expressive royal blue full of energy and movement
Slow Swing — a deep, meditative inky navy that feels confident and grounding
I couldn’t resist creating new mockups showing Pink Chatter pairs against each of these blues. The contrast is electric!
The pinks seem to sing differently in each setting:
Against the soft mellow Flow they feel fresh and whimsical
With bold Free Groove they take on a playful, confident bounce.
In the rich depths of Slow Swing they glow with intimate warmth.
It’s fascinating how the same paintings can shift personality so beautifully just by changing the wall colour. From the serene Cloud Dancer whites to this rhythmic blue family — Pink Chatter is proving wonderfully versatile.
Meanwhile, back in the studio…
Moving On and Hurly Burly
Last Friday I finally finished dressing the frames for the Moving On collection — they look crisp and I look forward to putting the new works in their frames, once they’ve completely cured. You can see the unframed collection by clicking here.
Now I’ve moved on to finishing the frames for the Hurly Burly pieces. Click here to see unframed Hurly Burly works. It’ll be satisfying to see these two collections properly framed and honoured.
Pink Chatter’s Public Debut
And the best news for this week: two Pink Chatter, Do Opposites Attract, and, They Sure Do…Or, Do They? make their public debut this Friday at Invernui Gallery.
If you’re a collector in the Southland area and would like to view them, please message me directly and I’ll pass your details on to the gallery owners so they can include you.
I’m thrilled to see them out in the world and can’t wait to hear what visitors think!
Polishing website for Pink Chatter
All of this activity is part of getting everything polished and ready for a full Pink Chatter launch on my new and improved website, which makes it much easier for you to collect my work no matter where you live. If you’ve been following the journey of these persistent little paintings — started in March 2024, set aside, then revived with fresh marks — I hope you’re enjoying the ride as much as I am.
