Barnes Oysters runs eight of the 11 oyster boats in the Bluff fleet and its shareholders include industry heavyweights such as Sanford, Skeggs Group, United Fisheries and Independent Fisheries. The iconic oysters are dredged from beds in Foveaux Strait and enjoy a limited season and an international reputation. Opening the delicacies is an art in its own right, with professional openers affording all the prestige of dreadnaught shearers.
