Oreti Beach to Riverton-Spur of the moment fun!

A spur of the moment drive on Oreti Beach from Riverton on the foreshore over the weekend prompted me to be inspired by an earlier  journey to Oreti to watch the sun setting over Riverton Aparima way from the northern part of Oreti Beach in Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand.

We finally made the drive all the way by driving on the beach from Aparima to Oreti Beach. What a magical journey. Warned that we could get stuck fording the Waimatuku Stream emptying into the Foveaux Strait, we opted to make the journey at low tide in our new-to-us Santa Fe four wheel drive vehicle. AS A BONUS BELOW is a link to a 7 minute video of that. It is exclusive to those who read this blog.

The drive to Riverton usually takes 30 minutes by driving north on State 6 and turning left at State 99 to the sleepy coastal town.

The result from Day 15 is titled “Southland Skies – Oreti Beach Looking Over to Riverton.” The painting is for sale.

I invite you to watch the time-lapse video below.
