Out of Hand
Southland Museum 2012
The world recognises individuals by their face, whereas, hands reveal how that person spends their most precious possession—time.
Our face shows countenance, however, our hands are the agents that help us forge the paths we aspire to follow.
With a hug or a shove, hands reveal what is treasured, or, conversely, that which is disdained. Moreover, they dutifully respond to how we wish to apportion our own time.
I partnered with jewellery artist Anna Claire Thompson, who had a dynamically different approach to the title ‘Out of Hand’ for this 2012 show at Southland Museum and Art Gallery.
