Let's Have a Ball-Optimistic Abstracts by Beverly Claridge

Red Playground

optimistic Conversational abstracts

Red Playground, is an optimistic and energetic collection of artworks engaging in dynamic conversation.  They will fill your spaces with colourful exuberance.

Early works reign triumphant over a gruelling beginning. Indeed, I soaked, stained, and thoroughly mistreated watercolour paper. Consequently, the resulting crunchy surfaces gave me great opportunity to experiment and forge a new art direction.

The beginning hand-drawn works were made with Inktense, pigment ink and coloured pencil. Following pieces were mono-printed with Inktense and a bit of oil-stick. Afterwards, works were made by mono-printing with oil-based printing ink.

Finally, “Play Ball”, the latest large oil on canvas, reinterprets the first work, “Let’s Have A Ball”, as a way of returning full circle to oil painting.

Currently, I’m framing the entire collection of Red Playground works which will soon be available from Invernui Art Gallery in Invercargill.

Let’s Paint the Town Red adds crackling, go-for-it texture and fun to your spaces.  I made these works principally with Inktense and oil stick on really crunchy paper, for real punch. Thereby, resulting in set of works that are decidedly distinct from the other Red Playground derivatives.

Shown virtually framed.

This is slated for real life-framing very soon. Purchase by 21 February, 2026 through Invernui Gallery in order to choose your preferred mat colour
