Out of Hand
Southland Museum 2012
While society usually recognises individuals by their face, hands reveal how that person spends their most precious possession—time.
Our face shows our countenance, whereas, hands are the agents that help forge the paths we aspire to follow.
With a hug or a shove, hands reveal what or who is treasured or that which is disdained. They dutifully respond to our own apportionment of time.
I partnered with jewellery artist Anna Claire Thompson, who had a dynamically different approach to the title ‘Out of Hand’ for this 2012 show at Southland Museum and Art Gallery.
