The choice applauded
Nonetheless, I applaud Pantone’s selection. Furthermore, I am not taken aback by the announcement. Indeed, I selected a comparable shade of white for the walls of my newly remodelled home back in late 2023. Undeniably, I sought to tame our home from my earlier strong colour choices. Accordingly, the quieter colour allowed for the serenity we so needed after Covid lockdowns and the disruption of our home repair.

Moreover, the relaxing powdery tones enabled the use of dark flooring throughout the house. Furthermore, it harmonised our eclectic collection of vintage and modern furnishings. The Cloud Dancer colour worked well with our beloved Uluru Orange, which served as accent colour in our main living space. Most importantly, it offered a beautiful backdrop for my art collection. Consequently, the genuine beauty of Cloud Dancer is its capacity to allow for creativity and experimentation.
Relevant choices
My personal selection of a Cloud Dancer-inspired colour in 2023 is, indeed, relevant to Pantone’s deeming it their colour of the year. The institute specifically tracks and studies global trends, including designer usage, consumer purchases and paint choices.

The first Pantone Colour of the Year announcement, Cerulean, was released in 2000. Pantone was originally established in 1962 to standardise colours for the print industry. The organisation’s colours eventually influenced graphic design and home goods manufacturing. Lately, you can see its influence paint colour manufacturing, too.
