Introducing ‘Hoopla’

‘Hoopla’ is a rather celebratory piece, thereby, making it worthy of the name which means “a state of excited emotion or activity”. Confetti-styled marks fashioned out of liquid gold leaf is lined and embellished with multiple-layers of coloured pigment ink. Frenetic scratches and scrapes through multiple oil-based ink layers add to the party.  It is inspired by ‘Rhema Meditation No. 4’, which can be seen by clicking here.

About making ‘Hurly Burly’

All pieces within any of my series, including ’Hurly Burly’, are advanced together through stages as a group.  By the time I choose to add liquid metal leaf pen to this group and colourful pigment ink marks, I soon realise this collection is going to be exuberant. ‘Hoopla’ is certainly no exception to this expectation.  Another congruity for this group,  and is true of the collections within my 52 in 52 works, is my choice to create joy-filled works.  This means my new works are guaranteed to enliven any ho-hum spaces with aplomb.
