Amazing Invercargill skies can be easily viewed from Tramway Road and Rockdale. I often pull my car off to the shoulder for a good view of the city. Beyond that, the Longwoods. Further north, the majestic Takitimu mountains tower over Southland, closer to distant Fiordland. I couldn’t resist the allure of the clouds rolling in from the northwest.
Progress looms. The paddock is slated for around 600 new homes and shops that will most likely obstruct the exquisite view. Already, road works and ground preparation make it more challenging to pull over for a look. Such is progress. People need homes.
