Kerfuffle – Abstract on Canvas by Beverly Claridge

ABSTRACT ARTWORK ON CANVAS SHEET

‘Kerfuffle’ by Beverly Claridge
Oil-based media on canvas sheet, liquid copper leaf
310 x 230mm or 12.2 x 9.1 inches

The work is sold unframed.

Introducing, ‘Kerfuffle’

‘Kerfuffle’, a disturbance or commotion erupting from a dispute or conflict, is an apt moniker for this work. An inner squabble developed within, compelling me to avoid repeating the comfortable theme, techniques, and materials of ‘Moving On’. Without a doubt, the work clearly deviates from the inspiring work, Rhema Meditation No.3, which can be seen by clicking here.

Material and Technique Battle for ‘Hurly Burly’

I enforced the use of thicker applications oil-based printing ink brushed onto cut-out foam board for ‘Kerfuffle’ and the ‘Hurly Burly’ series.  Pressing ink-laden shapes firmly onto the canvas using my cold press almost struck panic in me at times. This was followed by scraping away layers away with my palette knife with more ferocity than ever before.  The mess was incredible, the result, beautiful.

Using liquid copper leaf pen ennobles the work whilst touches of black and coloured pigment ink certainly incite the resulting, ‘Kerfuffle’. It pairs up beautifully with ‘Razzmatazz’ which can be viewed and purchased by clicking here.
