Gaining confidence with a new painting style

I’m gaining confidence applying impasto paint for these daily paintings inspired by the Kyeburn Diggings in the Danseys Pass.

The early dark wet layers affecting later layers is still challenging, but fun. The interplay between the pigments with the brush is satisfying. Mostly.

Day 8, the process is closer to my usual approach to painting than any work so far. I usually block in with the darkest values and lightest values. Then add middle values. Warmer and darker tones up close. Cooler, lighter, in the distance.

The result from Day 8 is entitled “Journey Through the Danseys Pass Kyeburn Diggings VI“. The painting is for sale.
