Moving On’ is a profound emotional, spiritual, and practical journey of overcoming the madness of the pandemic. Indeed, the added insanity of closing my business and living in my home during a major repair added to the malaise.
Without a doubt, the art collection is a significant victory for me. In particular, delving into abstraction, after a life-time of narrative realism, is an enormous pursuit. Additionally, the techniques used mirror the intricate and often tumultuous process of moving forward from life’s difficulties. The collection confirms my readiness to move full-throttle into abstraction. Moreover, overcoming problems encountered making the series rewarded me with even more confidence.
The series underscores the universality of the ‘moving on’ experience. By translating my own personal and often private battles onto the canvas I hope to connect my stories to yours as a collective narrative of growth and healing.
For me, ’Moving On’ is more than achieving an artistic goal. It is restorative.
The title arises from of a period of tackling loss, sorrow, and grief. Now, I’m ready to ‘move on’. The individual titles, likewise, seek to be light-hearted and joyful.
